This is something I had wanted to try for a couple of years now.
This piece is roughly 30" x 48" and for a fiber painting it is the largest I have worked on.
The first challenge was enlarging my image to a life size pattern. Actually ended up with a printer to get the sizing right.
By far the biggest challenge was piecing the petals together and free motion sewing on such a large piece.
But the coolest thing - I had an artists assistant for a day - that was the best - THANKS D!!!
It turned out amazingly well. For display I sandwiched some needlepoint canvas between the top and the black backing.
I fused it all together and then cut the around the edges leaving it rough with no borders - much like you would with paper.
A friend of mine gave me the idea for the hangers - which were (3) d rings fused to the backing.
