When I observe flowers, I fall in love with the color and the intricateness of it's design. My goal when I create a piece is to bring the viewer into the flower and enjoy natures artwork with me.
For over 10 years I pursued a professional art career by participating in co-op galleries, outdoor art shows and commission work.
Oil paintings were my first passion and I still love the work I created. I'm still amazed today when I see my work and find it hard to believe that I created such beautiful paintings.
Professional Bio
Over the span of her twenty-year career, her traditional floral still lifes have been overtaken by oversized flowers in the spirit of Georgia O’Keeffe. Nagele chooses a pallet of intense, often monochromatic colors – violets, yellows, golds, reds and oranges. In a number of works, the delicate, intricately crafted petals are almost carnal in their dramatic, sweeping depth. There is nothing subdued about her passion as she manages to keep the energy and intensity level of her focus at a steady pitch by means of her beckoning colors and the richness of her paint surface. Nagele feels free to exaggerate each subject in order to accentuate the shapes and focus attention on details that are often hidden when viewed casually.
Flowers are given and received on special occasions, planted in our gardens, and observed beside roads on a daily basis—often without much thought. I would like for my paintings to encourage viewers to slow down and appreciate nature’s brilliant, mysterious plan.
Each flower I select for a painting is a journey of discovery and growth. At the start of each canvas I was delighted by all the white space that was available to develop my vision. Even with the completion of these paintings – I still have not solved the mystery of flowers and nature and their profound impact on my soul.
Join me in this journey and let the flowers blossom into a purpose that can make a difference.
